How to Look After E Cigarette Batteries
Follow the steps below to ensure you get the best out of your e cig and vape pen batteries. Please also read our E Cig Battery Safety Information page.
Regularly clean the battery contacts
Cleaning the contacts is the best thing you can do to look after e cigarette batteries. Over time, small amounts of e liquid and debris from pockets or bags can collect in the screw part of the battery. You may notice that there’s a green coloured build up around the battery screw which is usually because debris has reacted with the battery.
We recommend regularly cleaning the contacts to help look after e cigarette batteries. We’ve found that a good way to get into the habit of this would is to give them a quick clean each time you put one on charge. This is turn will help to keep your charger clean and free of debris. We occasionally have batteries returned to us by customer’s because they’ve stopped working and the majority of the time we give them a good clean and they’re back up and running again.
To clean the battery contacts, simply take a screwed up piece of dry tissue paper or a cotton wool bud and thoroughly wipe both inside and outside the screw part of the battery.
Never use water to clean your e cigarette batteries.
Keep them out of direct sunlight & extreme temperatures
As with any type of battery, exposure to extremes of temperature can be dangerous. When you’re not happily vaping away, make sure that you keep your vape batteries out of direct sunlight and don’t let them get too cold.
Mark your batteries so that you know when they need replacing
Many of our customers use a sticker or a pen so that they can keep track of when a battery was purchased. We think this is a great idea as it means you’ll know when a battery is getting old and may need replacing.
Don’t overcharge your e cig batteries
Try not to keep your batteries plugged in after they are fully charged as this can cause deterioration. The LED on both our K1 Standard e cig batteries and K2 Ultra E Cig Batteries will stay lit up whilst charging and go out once fully charged.
If you want to charge more than one battery at a time but only have a certain amount of USB ports available on your computer, you can purchase our handy OK E Cig Mains Adapter for mains charging.
You should never leave a charging battery unattended or plugged in for longer than necessary.
Store your batteries carefully
We would recommend keeping your e cigarette batteries in their supplied case (or even a small glasses-style case or zip wallet if you want to carry a few) when not in use to help keep them clean and safe.
Turn your battery off when not in use (applies to Ego Cigarette Vape Pen batteries only)
The OK (formerly Zing) Ego Vape Pen batteries have an on/off function so you can prevent accidental activation when in a bag or pocket. This is important for safety reasons and to preserve your battery, so make sure you use it. To turn your battery on or off, press the button five times in quick succession. The button LED will flash 3 times to indicate that it has been turned on or off.
Follow the above recommendations to look after cigarette batteries and you’ll find your batteries perform better and last longer.
