Supermarket sales of e-cigarettes surge to an all-time high < Go Back January 14, 2015 – Posted in: Blog - E-Cigarette News
The sales of e-cigarettes in UK supermarkets have reached an all-time high in 2014, with them eclipsing sports nutrition drinks in second place as the UK’s fastest growing products in supermarkets by both value and volume.
According to Nielsen, supermarket sales of electronic cigarettes rose an incredible 49.5% from the previous year, selling 17.3 million units over the 12 month time period. The amount of money spent on electronic cigarettes also rose 43.4% to an all-time high figure of £122 million.
The growth clearly shows that e-cigarettes have grown to become the most popular way to cut down on nicotine intake, easily overtaking the sale of nicotine replacements such as patches and gum, sales of which fell 6.1% to 13.3 million units in 2014. E-cigarettes also have a growing economy all around the world, with the global e-cigarette market estimated to currently be worth $3.5 billion. The future looks bright for this alternative to regular cigarettes, with the global market projected to be worth a huge $51 billion by 2030.
